The Argolic Gulf:  our first campsite this week was just by this beautiful coastline. It was delightfully quiet at this time of the year (just birdsong and the quiet lapping of waves), but must be horrific in the peak summer holiday period

Ancient theatre at Epidavros:
an essential aspect of the Sanctuary of Asklepios was dramatic performances in honour of the semi-divine hero. Classical dramas are still performed here in Epidavros' well preserved 14,000 seat theatre which is set in the rolling hills of SE Argolis

Temple of Apollo, Ancient Corith:  7 of the Doric columns of the 6th century BC Temple stand proudly over the ruins of the Roman period city of Ancient Corinth. The fortified original acropolis of Acrocorith in the background has been occupied by every invader of Greece, including the Turks

Corinth Canal:  a canal through the 4 mile wide Isthmus of Corinth had been planned from ancient times, but only achieved in 1893, to avoid the hazardous voyage around the south of the Peloponnese. Modern super- tankers have made the Canal almost redundant - it's still an impressive sight though
