Kamnik:  we enjoyed a quiet Sunday lunchtime in this beautiful mediaeval town; the Church of the Assumption, with its separate Gothic bell-tower, is filled with richly ornate Baroque embellishment (if you like that sort of thing)

Logarska dolina: this beautiful Alpine valley, classically glacial in origin, was surrounded by the jagged peaks of the Kamniske- Savinske Alps, with the source of the Savinja at the head of the valley, not far from the Austrian border

Wild Cyclamen (Cyclamen purpurascens):  although the flora at this time of year is not as spectacular as in Spring, there is still a huge variety of wild flowers, something of a challenge for Sheila to identify

Camp in the Savinja valley:  after all the noise of Ljubljana campsite in August, it was a sheer delight to revel in the peace and quiet of this lovely spot by the upper Savinja river, with the distant Alpine peaks. The best time was early morning with the mist just rising off the river
