Bled Lake: no visit to Slovenia would be complete without a visit to Bled with its picturesque lake and Church of the Assumption set on an island. But apart from the lake, the town has little else to commend it, and we were glad to move on into Triglav National Park

Lake Bohinj:  this magnificent glacial valley with its 5 km long lake is one of the jewels of the National Park. We camped by the lake and each morning enjoyed this wonderful spectacle of the low mist lifting over the lake to reveal the cliffs beyond

Vrata valley looking towards Triglav:  this was the view we woke to from our camp near the village of Mojstrana. Looking straight up the 10 km long glacial Vrata valley, the 2,864 m peak of Triglav is just visible on the skyline immediately above George

Partisan Memorial & Triglav north face: just where the paths leading towards Triglav begin along the Vrata valley, this intriguing memorial of a 10 foot high piton and karabiner commemorates the WW II sacrifices of moutaineer-partisans from the Gorenjska region
