CAMPSITES IN GREECE - INTERACTIVE MAP:

The interactive map (right) gives the outline location of all campsites used by us in Greece during our summer 2004~6 trips; to find a campsite's exact location, copy/paste the GPS co-ordinates given in the chart into Google Maps.

Each site links to the chart below which gives details of:

  • campsite name, location, and GPS co-ordinates
  • date of our stay
  • cost per night including any discounts
  • campsite features together with our comments
  • assessment-rating

Campsites are rated on a scale +5 (excellent) through to    -5 (dreadful); we have tried to be as objective and consistent as possible, basing our assessment on standards specifically applicable to Greece, over an amalgamation of the following criteria:

  • attitudes shown, the welcome we received, and standards of hospitality and helpfulness
  • location and setting
  • standard of facilities
  • price and value for money

Comments given relate purely to the dates of our stay, often the peak summer holiday season.

Prices paid in 2004~6 are quoted in Euros.

10~14 June 2004 €22

UNDULY EXPENSIVE
Large and rather run down camping-village on coast just north of Preveza; best thing to be said about facilities were the swallows nesting in light fitting; wild beach looking out over Ionian Sea; supermarket in Preveza, an otherwise featureless town; be sure to visit archaeological sites of Kassope and Nikopolis, and monastery of Zalonga cliff

15~18 June 2004 €16 inc discount Well-appointed beach-side campsite just south of Parga approached down a very steep driveway; hospitable welcome, pleasantly shaded pitches, and clean, modern facilities; well-stocked mini-market on site; inevitably crowded with noisy holiday-makers in June but a good value site; visit the Acheron Gorge and Necromanteion at Ephyra; avoid Parga, a total dump! +4
