Sylvaner grape SYLVANER:

5% of grape production for white wine

The Sylvaner grape produces a light, dry and remarkably refreshing wine, pleasingly 'grapey' in nose and taste, and temptingly thirst quenching
Pinot Blanc grape PINOT BLANC:

5% of grape production for white wine

The Pinot Blanc grape produces a softly delicate, fresh and subtle wine, with a slightly mineral nose and taste; ideal for lunchtime drinking
Tokay Pinot Gris grape TOKAY PINOT GRIS:

15% of grape production for white wine

Despite the legend, the Pinot Gris grape in Alsace is unrelated to the Hungarian Tokaj grape; it develops a characteristic roundly rich and lingering flavour, slightly sweet and sometimes smoky
Muscat d'Alsace grape MUSCAT D'ALSACE:

5% of grape production for white wine

Wine from the Alsace Muscat grape is unmistakably 'grapey' in taste and aroma, but is attractively far less sweet than the Muscat of southern France; drinking a good Muscat, one has the impression of biting into fresh grapes - a real favourite, superbly mouth-watering
Gewurztraminer grape GEWURZTRAMINER:

50% of grape production for white wine

The Gewurztraminer grape produces the Alsace wine par excellence: full-bodied and exceptionally aromatic with rich bouquet and powerful rounded structure, sometimes slightly sweet; not everyone's cup of tea, but you do need to try it
Riesling grape RIESLING:

20% of grape production for white wine

The Riesling grape produces a superbly dry and distinguished wine, delicately fruity with an elegant bouquet, sometimes with citrus undertones; one of the world's great grape varieties and certainly a favourite of ours and a gastronomic wine par excellence; Rieslings from different producers vary surprisingly in character
Pinot Noir grape PINOT NOIR: Pinot Noir is the only Alsace grape variety to produce a red or rosé wine; despite being light in body, the Pinot Noir rouge has a characteristic richly flavoursome nose and taste, typically likened to cherry or woodland black fruits; without doubt, Pinot Noir is one of our favourite red wines

Other Alsace AOC wines:  in addition, Alsace produces a worthy sparkling wine, AOC Crémant d'Alsace, usually from the Pinot Blanc grape. You should also make a point of tasting Edelzwicker, a blended wine, permitted under AOC regulations; the exact blend (assemblage) varies between producers, so you need to taste before buying
