Great Synagogue at Szeged:   designed by Lipót Baumhorn in 1900, this was his greatest work. The magnificent dome, built of blue stained glass, represents the world with 24 columns for the hours of day and night. Plaques in the foyer record the names of 1000s of Szeged Jews murdered by the Germans in 1944
Arrival of the Magyar painting at Ópusztaszer:  commissioned for the 1896 millennium celebrations of the Magyar conquest of Hungary, this section of the panoramic painting shows Prince Árpád surrounded by the 7 tribal chiefs surveying the victorious warriors advancing across the plain Red Gold - the Paprika plant:  perhaps the best-known iconic symbol of Hungary, the Paprika is known as Red Gold. Kalocsa is the centre of the Paprika growing industry and at this time of year, the fields are ablaze with the ripening fruits which can be seen hanging to dry on all the cottages
