Our first car:  known to us as The Little Green Imp - remember the Hillman Imp? The aluminium engine had a major problem - cooling just did not work. Notice also Sheila's 1970s flared trousers

Lake Bohinj:  we descended the wooded cliffs from the Triglav mountains, down to the lakeside where we camped for several days. Reports suggest that the area is rather more popular with visitors now than in 1974

Triglav, Slovenia's highest mountain:  the north face and glacier. We climbed the narrow ridge up to the 9,395 feet summit from Triglavski Dom mountain hut, which is set on a ledge at around 7,500 feet

Ferry at end of trip:  isn't it a delight, digging out old photos and slides after so many years - you come across treasures like this picture. Of the many photos  taken over the years of Sheila leaning on ships rails, this one does most justice to the subject
